So far February has been a fantastic month for donations!

Lots of books have been donated and we are now less than 100 away from our target, which is a brilliant achievement in such a short space of time…

Some absolutely fantastic toys were also donated which will be perfect for the women’s refuge playroom.

There were also some rather lovely baby clothes too including some super baby packs aready made up………

So far February seems too have been a very busy month with lots of planning going on, which is fun! -I hope you’re all enjoying whatever it is you’re up to!

This is quite possibly the cutest baby boys hat I have ever seen!

Shades of denim, yellow, green and maroon give the traditional design a modern feel.

It is hand knitted using a fine yarn that will keep baby snuggly without being heavy.

February

February was a busy month for Algerian Action…….The weather in Algeria was particularly cold and for the first time in several years Algiers was covered in snow which meant times were even harder for those in need, happily people had been so generous with winter clothing donations that we were able to assist many families with blankets, warm jumpers and coats just in time for the cold snap.

Lots more fabulous donations arrived in February including jumpers,blankets,hats, toys,bootees and some brilliant summer dresses- but more about those in my next post! Below is just a small selection of what arrived, unfortunately time does not permit me to take pics of everything but be assured that every single item that is donate is much appreciated.

Donations

Is it that that the weather has become colder and more people are staying at home crafting and clearing out I don’t know but, the past few weeks have seen so many items being donated to those in need- which is just fabulous! We usually send one shipment of donations per month but now with winter fast approaching that will increase as hats, gloves and warm blankets will need to be sent too.

This is just a small selection of donations that have been received but, huge thanks and appreciated are owed to all who have sent things in. Thank you all for your support!

So many people have been so very generous with donating that it has now become impossible to photograph everything and post the pictures here for you all to see. This doesn’t mean that your donations are not appreciated, They are- by me and the volunteers who help Algerian Action but, most importantly by the many many families that you all help.

Below are just a few examples o the lovely things that have been donated in recent weeks.

 

I really enjoy looking at the things people donate and I know a lot of you do too. I have lots more pictures to post and will do so shortly. In the mean time huge thanks to all of you who contribute to Algerian Action!

 

 

March round up

March was yet another month for fantastic donations, gorgeous pre loved clothing, fabulous knits and lots of things for the Eid gift bag appeal.

Thank you so much to those who answered my plea for fabric bags. More are still needed so if anyone fancies dragging the sewing machine out and making a few it would be wonderful! 

 Thanks to everyone’s generosity a further fifty-one Eid bags were able to be made up in March.  There are still quite a few to do especially for the older children.  Actually, I’m a bit stuck as to what to put in the bags for boy’s age 12+, any ideas? Sue suggested solar-powered calculators or geometry sets which sound great but it would be really helpful to hear your ideas too.  

Still looking for short-sleeved patterns / links so if you have any please share. I’m trying a bolero pattern that Phyllis and Helen sent me.  It looks good so far.  Once I’ve finished it I’ll post a picture and if anyone is interested I’ll send them a copy of the pattern.

A great start to March

 Lots of beautiful things have arrived this week- 

Some lovely jumpers and hats for older children  came from Sue along with some great things for the gift bags

Two pretty pink baby items from Maureen in Dorset.

Some lovely new clothes were donated by Lynne

A gorgeous blanket was donated by Debra.  She also sent some pretty t.shirts, mittens and hats.

Lots and lots of hair bands which will be perfect for the Eid bags were sent in by Helen along with a set of her fabulous sanitary pads, a stash of bras and some soap.

Beautiful jumpers and knitted squares were donated by Norma in East Calder.

Hats and mittens came from a lady in Colchester.

A fantastic collection of toddler clothes and some super cute baby cardigans were donated by Elaine and her daughter.

Some really lovely cardigans and £2 to buy some soap came from Jayne

Fabulous crafty bits, pens, pencils and toothbrushes along with some pre-loved clothing were donated by Angela

Lastly, a colourful collection of hats and jumpers were sent in by Beverley.

Thank you so much everyone! The time and effort you all put into supporting the project is much appreciated.

A visit

A few days ago I had the pleasure of a visit from two of the projects supporters -Isabel and her daughter Freya. They must have had trouble squeezing into the car because with them,  they brought so many bags full of gorgeous, beautiful donations. Hundreds of things and all of them wonderful!
