Thank you so much to all of you who sent in donations last month, lots of things arrived in Algeria yesterday and another shipment of donations will be sent over at the end of April. As the weather turns warmer we will be focusing on sending clothing suitable for summer in the next few months, so if you are doing a spring clean of your wardrobe, shorts, t.shirts, sun hats ect will be very gratefully received.
I am also very pleased to tell you that the target for rebuilding a home for the family in need has been met and building work will start as soon as possible. I will keep you updated of it’s progress as and when I know more. Huge thanks to all of you who contributed, every penny really does count and collectively we have achieved something wonderful for a family in need.
Now,if you are a long time supporter you may remember the annual Eid Appeal which was launched last year, for the new supporters or the forgetful among us details can be found here. This year Eid ul Fitr should fall at the end of August so, it is about time the appeal for 2011 got underway!
Last year gifts of toys, sweets and clothing were given to 300 children living in Algiers. This year it is planned that gifts will also be given to children in hospital and an orphanage.
Algerian Action currently has a list of 262 children from families that are helped by us on a regular basis but, this may of course increase by August. In addition there are 85 children in hospital and 100 children in an orphanage who we hope will receive  Eid gifts from us this year.
But, this will only be possible with your help. We need donations of clothing, sweets, small toys, balloons- all the things that children love! Last year the paper airplanes, colouring pencils and bouncy balls were a real hit and the young girls loved the headbands and sparkly hairclips !
The plan is to give each child a goody bag of treats. Gifts will be distributed to children aged 0-16, so anything suitable for this age group would be greatly appreciated.
As always thank you so much for your support and help.
Happy April everyone! Emma x
