Just wanted to say a big thank you to of all of those that participated in the Winter Wonder event at the weekend. It was very much a last minute thing to help raise some extra funds for the increasing number of families that are needing help. But, thanks to your efforts of sharing, liking and giving it was possible to raise a total of £310 through auction sales and one off donations because of the interest the event generated.
A special thanks to the small businesses that donated items to the Auction too. (Links of these can be found in the sidebar).
The money will be used to buy additional supplies of blankets and other items to help those in need keep warm this winter.(Pictures to follow shortly).
Have a great week everyone!

Handicrafts are popular in Algeria and several people are able to earn an income by producing beautiful pottery, furniture, glassware, tiles, pictures, handbags, carpets, clothing and many other types of items.
Hand crafted jewellery has been being created in Algeria for hundreds of years and every region has traditional styles that make use of locally sourced stones and findings that are fashioned into beautiful, hard-wearing pieces. My Mother in law gave me a brooch which had been passed down to her from her grandmother, it is years old but, even today the enamel and coral is still so vibrant-I love it!
As part of our Winter Wonder event which starts tomorrow and finishes on Sunday we will be giving away one beautiful Algerian necklace that has been handcrafted from silver and studded with Mediterranean coral.Don’t miss it!
Around the middle of November I put an appeal out for people to send in warm winter clothing that could be sent and distributed to needy children in Algiers. Do you remember?
The items needed to be shipped before the coldest weather started so, the last day for getting things in was today.
Well, what can I say? In just a few weeks, thanks to your generosity and a team effort we have managed to collect 837 coats, cardigans, jumpers and jeans plus a few bags full of socks and gloves. THANK YOU, thank you so much! in such a short space of time it’s just fantastic!
I know you all like to look at what’s been coming in so below are just a few pictures of some of the things that were donated in the last week or so (not all for the winter warmer shipment though!)
As always, thank you for your tremendous support.
Have a great weekend!
Lots of fabulous things have arrived over the past week. Including beautiful blankets for the baby pack project, as a knitter that gets bored easily I know how tedious blanket knitting can be so these are extra appreciated and as our supply of blankets is running low they are really needed at the moment. The super snuggly pink fleece ones are just lovely too.
Lots of clothing and toys have also been donated.
We are busy collecting warm winter clothing for needy children at the moment. Thanks to your generosity we have already parcelled up 410 items of warm winter clothing which will be shipped over this week. We are still collecting and are urgently in need of jackets, coats, jumpers ect in all sizes but things are especially needed for children aged 4- 8 years . The next shipment will leave on 22nd December so if you can help in any way please do so a.s.a.p.
As always, thank you so much for your generosity and support!
Have a great week
Winter will soon be here and with this in mind I have been busy knitting hats and mittens. I tried a few patterns for mittens but in the end decided to come up with my own. I have posted it on the ‘my free patterns’ page if anyone fancies having a go, if you spot any errors please let me know and I will amend asap.
Now I just need to do a matching hat, I’m thinking one with a bobble on top would work well…..
